It's not just the area of hard sales or winning clients and contracts where effective presentational skills are vital. In the workplace, we are constantly pitching our ideas: to our peers, colleagues, superiors, clients, customers and subordinates. It's the truest employment of Ancient Greek "rhetoric": communicating, convincing and converting others to our way of thinking, strategy, proposition or idea. Therefore the way we present our ideas is crucial. It's what wins contracts, promotions, projects and even elections.
You have to be compelling and engaging as well as give careful thought to the precision of what you say, and detailed in how you say it. Even unscripted and impromptu contributions in a meeting or the boardroom, influence how you are perceived and received. I look at how to organise your thoughts and get your message across in a clear, concise and succint way - as well as being impactful. I then look at what "story" your body, voice and facial expressions are telling, and bring it into alignment with your overall message.
