So often poets and writers craft wonderful words on the page, yet when it comes to presenting their work they simply do not do the material justice. As an actor, we carefully train in the different ways to approach verse and prose - and I encourage poets and writers to learn these techniques too. How else do actors learn to deliver a Shakespearean soliloquy or record an audio book?
I work with poets, authors, spoken word and performance artists on their own work for presentations, sharings and book launches. I also hold workshops with poetry and writing groups, to get their words from static page to stellar performance.

When it came to performing my work, I only had experience reading to small groups of people, from a seated position, and with little thought of presentation. Performance was never a consideration until I had to read my poems to an unfamiliar audience. Gigi taught me a number of things - she certainly boosted my confidence and performance.
